According to the October 29, 2019, U.S. Drought Monitor, moderate to extreme drought covers 15.6% of the United States including Puerto Rico, a decrease from last week’s 18.4%. The worst drought categories (extreme to exceptional drought) decreased from 0.8% last week to 0.4% this week.
Abnormal dryness and drought are currently affecting over 108 million people across the United States including Puerto Rico—about 34.8% of the population.
