The Ocean Archive System searches our original datasets as they were submitted to us, not individual points or profiles. If you want to search and retrieve ocean profiles in a common format, or objectively analyzed fields, your better option may be to use one of our project applications. See: Access Data

Title: | Ocean station data including water temperature, salinity, and other data from EWA, BORA and other Polish platforms from 1928-08-16 to 1992-11-18 (NCEI Accession 9300135) |
Abstract: | The Ocean Serial data in this accession was collected by Poland as part of Global Ocean Data Archaeology and Rescue (GODAR) project using over 14 ships. The data was collected between August 16, 1928 and December 17, 1985. The data was submitted to NODC via International Council for The Exploration of the Sea, Denmark. In 1993 at the time of submission Polish submitters requested that data not yet 10-years old not be released. Therefore NODC converted 82,800 records for data only up to 1982. These data files are in NODC SD2 format. The SD2 file format is used for physical-chemical oceanographic data recorded at discrete depth levels. Most of the observations were made using multi-bottle Nansen casts or other types of water samplers. A small amount (about 5%), were obtained using electronic CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) or STD (salinity-temperature-depth) recorders. The CTD/STD data were reported to NODC at depth levels equivalent to Nansen cast data, however, and have been processed and stored the same as the Nansen data. Cruise information, position, date and time are reported for each station. Each station contains the measurements taken at observed depth levels, but also includes data values interpolated to a set of standard depth levels. |
