This dataset contains biological and physical data collected at shoreside Guam during deployment Guam_Reef_Surveys_2014 in the North Pacific Ocean and Philippine Sea from 2014-01-16 to 2014-08-14. These data include PAR and taxon_code. The instruments used to collect these data include Fluorometer. These data were collected by Dr Kiho Kim of American University, Dr Laurie J Raymundo of University of Guam Marine Laboratory, and Dr David M Baker of University of Hong Kong as part of the "Documenting bleaching susceptibility and resilience in Guam, Micronesia (Reef Resilience in Guam)" project. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NCEI on 2021-02-05.

The following is the text of the dataset description provided by BCO-DMO:

Underwater fluorescence, Guam reefs 2014

Dataset Description:
Acquisition Description:
Maximum excitation pressure of Symbiodinium assemblages was assessed as an indicator for holobiont photosynthetic performance of Pocillopora damicornis in shallow (1-2m), back reef and P. eydouxi in deeper fore-reef (>3m). Effective quantum yield (F/Fm’) was measured using a Walz Diving Pam Fluorometer (Germany) via saturation pulse fluorometry at 1cm away from branch tips during midday. Maximum quantum yield (Fv/Fm) was measured under custom shading devices which were designed to dark-acclimate corals in situ for 30 minutes. Maximum excitation pressure (Q) was calculated using the formula, Q = 1-(F/Fm’)/(Fv/Fm).
