This dataset contains biological and survey - biological data collected on NOAA Ship Trawl-Survey-Vessel during cruise NEFSC-Bottom_Trawl in the New York Bight and North Atlantic Ocean from 1977-01-01 to 2008-12-31. These data include abundance and taxon. The instruments used to collect these data include Otter Trawl. These data were collected by Jonathan Hare of Northeast Fisheries Science Center - Narragansett as part of the "Northeast Fisheries Science Center Bottom Trawl Survey (NEFSCBottomTrawl)" project and "National Marine Fisheries Service / Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NMFS/NEFSC)" program. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NCEI on 2020-01-14.

The following is the text of the dataset description provided by BCO-DMO:

Supplemental Information
Acquisition Description:
The Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC) has conducted bottom trawl surveys for juvenile and adult fish on the NEUS Shelf over the past four decades (Azarovitz 1981). The surveys were conducted in the spring (March-April) and fall (September-October) using a stratified random design. All fish for each species were counted and weighed. Literature values of the estimated median size at maturity (50th percentile) were used for most species to determine size at maturity and only mature adults were included the catch estimates.
