This dataset contains biological and chemical data collected on R/V Atlantic Explorer during cruises AE0912, AE0914, AE0923, AE1004, AE1015, AE1017, AE1030, AE1103, AE1114, AE1126, AE1215, AE1224, and AE1314 in the North Atlantic Ocean from 2009-06-18 to 2009-06-24. These data include bacterial abundance, depth, depth nominal, dissolved organic Carbon, leucine incorporation rate, particulate organic Carbon (POC), standard deviation of leucine incorporation rate, standard deviation of thymidine incorporation rate, and thymidine incorporation rate. The instruments used to collect these data include CHN Elemental Analyzer, Microscope-Fluorescence, and Shimadzu TOC-V Analyzer. These data were collected by Dr Stephen Giovannoni of Oregon State University and Craig Carlson of University of California-Santa Barbara as part of the "Transitions in the Surface Layer and the Role of Vertically Stratified Microbial Communities in the Carbon Cycle - An Oceanic Microbial Observatory (Ocean Microbial Observatory)" project. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NCEI on 2020-05-11.

The following is the text of the dataset description provided by BCO-DMO:

Biogeochemical and microbial field surveys from the BATS site, 2009-2013

Dataset Description:
Water samples collected from 2009-2013 at the Bermuda Hydrostation were analyzed for DOC, POC, bacterial abundance, leucine and thymidine incorporation.
