This dataset contains biological, chemical, optical, and physical data collected on R/V Atlantic Explorer during cruise AE1123 in the North Atlantic Ocean from 2011-09-29 to 2011-10-13. These data include beam attenuation, chlorophyll a, depth, dissolved Oxygen, salinity calculated from CTD primary sensors, and water temperature. The instruments used to collect these data include CTD Sea-Bird SBE 911plus and WETLabs ECO-FLNTU. These data were collected by Michael W. Lomas of Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences and Adam Martiny of University of California-Irvine as part of the "Biological Controls on the Ocean C:N:P ratios (Biological C:N:P ratios)" project and "Dimensions of Biodiversity (Dimensions of Biodiversity)" and "Ocean Carbon and Biogeochemistry (OCB)" programs. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NCEI on 2020-11-20.

Sampling and analytical procedures:

Temperature, salinity, oxygen concentration, and PAR were measured using a Sea-Bird SBE-911+ CTD platform equipped on the rosette deployment system.

Chlorophyll a was measured using a WetLabs FLNTU combination fluorometer and turbidity sensor equipped on the CTD rosette.

Salinity and oxygen water samples were collected via a Niskin bottle rosette system and analyzed according to protocols outlined in Knap et al. 1993
