Alongtrack data collected continuously by the ship's underway acquisition system from R/V Oceanus OC473 in the western North Atlantic, 35-50 degrees North in 2011 (OAPS project) (NCEI Accession 0277401)
This dataset contains biological, meteorological, optical, and physical data collected on R/V Oceanus during cruise OC473 in the North Atlantic Ocean from 2011-08-04 to 2011-09-01. These data include Speed over ground, air temperature, barometric pressure, conductivity mS, course over ground, fluorescence counts, humidity, precip_level, precipitation rate, radiation_s, relative wind speed, sal_ss, sea surface temperature, sound velocity, wind_dir_c, wind_dir_r, wind_speed_c, and wind_speed_kts. The instruments used to collect these data include Fluorometer, Global Positioning System Receiver, Gyro, Knudsen 320 BR deepwater echosounder, MicroTSG Thermosalinograph, Sea-Bird SBE 48 Hull Temperature Sensor, and Weather Transmitter. These data were collected by Dr Gareth Lawson of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution as part of the "Horizontal and Vertical Distribution of Thecosome Pteropods in Relation to Carbonate Chemistry in the Northwest Atlantic and Northeast Pacific (OAPS)" project and "Ocean Carbon and Biogeochemistry (OCB)" and "Science, Engineering and Education for Sustainability NSF-Wide Investment (SEES): Ocean Acidification (formerly CRI-OA) (SEES-OA)" programs. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NCEI on 2023-01-23.
The following is the text of the dataset description provided by BCO-DMO:

Supplemental Information | Acquisition Description: Alongtrack measurements were made continuously during the course of the cruise. Data collection was handled by a number of computers and custom software programs, including Calliope, the central program which collects, logs, and distributes the data. Sea surface temperature, salinity, and fluorescence data were collected once per minute upon leaving port. Atmospheric measurements of air temperature, barometric pressure, wind speed and direction, and other meteorological variables were also collected along with time, latitude, and longitude once per minute. These data were saved on the ship’s server on a daily basis in several different file formats. |
