The Hawaii DLNR (Department of Land and Natural Resources) DAR (Division of Aquatic Resources) Kona team conducted coral bleaching surveys in collaboration with NOAA monitoring team at select sites in West Hawaii in 2019. A visual assessment of 10 x10 meter areas was performed to record live coral cover, common coral species, and percentage of bleaching occurring on live coral.

Purpose These surveys were conducted in collaboration with NOAA Pacific Island Fisheries Science Center, Ecosystem Sciences Division for an assessment of bleaching severity across the Hawaiian Archipelago.
