        abstract:  Vertical water temperature observational data for one location in the southern basin of Lake Michigan from June 2021 through September 2022. Vertical temperatures were collected sub-hourly at 18 depths; maximum depth of this mooring location was 155 m. The temperature measurements were collected continuously during this time period with an accuracy of ±0.002 °C.
        purpose:  These temperature data were collected by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (NOAA-GLERL). Temperature measurements collected at high resolution in both time and vertical space are critical to 1) assess inter-annual variability of the thermal structure of the Great Lakes; 2) test three-dimensional model parameterization; 3) understand vertical mixing processes; and 4) to aid in interpreting biological and other environmental data.
