        abstract:  This dataset includes discrete sample and profile data collected during the CCGS Hudson, R/V Coriolis II, CCGS Teleost, RRS James Cook and Fugro Discovery Atlantic Zone Monitoring Program cruises in the North Atlantic Ocean and Labrador Sea from 2014-11-16 to 2020-12-01. These data include water temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, nutrients, dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), total alkalinity, pH on the total scale, and ammonium. The Atlantic Zone Monitoring Program (AZMP) was implemented in 1998 with the aim of increasing Fisheries and Oceans Canada's (DFO) capacity to understand; describe; and forecast the state of the marine ecosystem and to quantify the changes in the ocean physical; chemical and biological properties. Ocean acidification is an emerging priority for Fisheries and Oceans Canada under the Aquatic Climate Change Adaption Services Program and is developing the knowledge-base necessary to support the development of adaptation tools and strategies and investing in science to better understand the specific consequences of a changing climate. Specifically; the effects of ocean acidification on ecosystems in the Northwest Atlantic and large aquatic basin risk assessments consider ocean acidification at the basin and sub-basin scale are being investigated.
        purpose:  A critical element of the AZMP involves an observation program aimed at assessing the variability in nutrients; phytoplankton and zooplankton. The overall aim is to identify fundamental relationships among elements of the planktonic ecosystem and establish how they respond to changes in environmental drivers(i). The AZMP derives its information on the state of the marine ecosystem from data collected at a network of sampling locations (high frequency sampling stations; cross-shelf sections; and groundfish surveys) in each region (Quebec; Gulf; Maritimes; NL) sampled at a frequency of biweekly to once annually.

            description:  measures gaseous carbon dioxide Carbon dioxide gas analyzer has often been referred to as LI-COR, because a lot of researchers choose to use products manufactured by LI-COR incorporation for their carbon dioxide measurement. The main component of a carbon dioxide analyzer is a nondispersive infrared (NDIR) spectroscopic sensors to detect CO2 in a gaseous environment by its characteristic absorption. Carbon dioxide (CO2) gas analyzer works together with carbon dioxide (CO2) equilibrator (insttypes_id 184) to measure carbon dioxide in the water. To measure water carbon dioxide, water needs to be continuously supplied to a showerhead inside an equilibrator. As the water flows through the equilibrator chamber, dissolved carbon dioxide exchanges quickly with air in the headspace. This air is then sampled by the carbon dioxide analyzer to determine the mole fraction of CO2 in water.
