Moored ADCP current measurements from Mamala Bay, Oahu, Hawaii, during 1997 - 1998 (NCEI Accession 0000624)
A downward-looking moored ADCP instrument was deployed at the surface about a mile south of Honolulu Harbor in waters of about 280 feet. The instrument was in operation from May 1997 - August 1998, when it was tangled in the mooring line of a ship and made unoperational. The data are one-minute samples taken from 20 to 62 m at 2 m depth intervals. Primary processing was done by Oceanit. The data were collected to study the ocean currents in the region south of the Honolulu reef runway near the Sand Island sewage outfall. Additional Mamala Bay data are archived at the NODC under individual accession numbers.

Supplemental Information | Michelle Eich, a graduate student at the University of Hawaii, applied quality control to select time periods of the data. Some of the other periods have remaining questionable features as noted. Completeness_Report: Quality control performed on the following months: 199708, 199709, 199710, 199711, 199805, 199806, 199807 No Quality control and high potential for data corruption in the following months: 199705, 199706, 199712, 199801, 199808 Process Description: ADCP mooring string deployed. Some of the data received quality control by Michelle Eich of the Oceanography Department at the University of Hawaii. Obvious spikes were replaced with missing data flags. Deepest two depth cells have questionable data quality due to proximity to the bottom. |
