| Abstract: | "JGOFS International Collection CTD, XBT & SeaSoar Data, Arabian Sea Process Study (1990-1997). This CD-ROM delivers nearly 2,500 profiles of temperature plus, in most cases, salinity and a subset from chlorophyll, dissolved oxygen and optical attenuance. Ships from six nations collected the data during 42 research cruises. The German JGOFS Data Management Office, Kiel produced the data set supported by the members of the JGOFS Data Management Task Team. | Supplementary information: | A corresponding CD-ROM was found in the NODC Ocean Climate Laboratory small library reference collection. The CD was given to the NOAA Central Library. The new library entry was also associated with accession 9900097. The publication listed below is related to the data collection and is available from the NOAA Central Library: JGOFS international collection [electronic resource] : CTD, XBT & SeaSoar data : Arabian Sea Process Study, 1990-1997/ JGOFS, Data Management Task Team. Bergen, Norway : JGOFS International Project Office (IPO), Centre for Studies of Environment and Resources, University of Bergen, 1999. Note: Metadata for this accession were extracted from a legacy database maintained by the U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC). The design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Principal Investigator (PI) and organization contact information accurately represents all available information from the legacy database at the time that this description was created. However, proper attribution of a PI to a specific institution or the role (submitting or collecting) taken by an institution may not be correct due to inexact mapping between fields in the legacy database and the CSDGM. Due to this uncertainty, the contact information was initially recorded in the Supplemental Information element of the CSDGM description. To develop more accurate metadata, NCEI reviews metadata for all accessions on an ongoing basis.
