Environmental Working Group (EWG)
Joint U.S. Russian Atlas of the Arctic Ocean
Oceanography Atlas for the Summer Period
Version 1.0, 15 March 1998

"The US-Russian Joint Commission on Economic and Technological Cooperation (referred to as the Gore-Chernomyrdin Commission) established an Environmental Working Group (EWG) to determine methods by which national security data assets could be used to study environmental issues. Russian and American scientists of the EWG Subgroup on Arctic Climatology have developed this electronic atlas for Arctic oceanography working from both open and restricted data. This second of a series of atlases significantly increases the holding of data on the Arctic Ocean available to the scientific community."
