The Ocean Archive System searches our original datasets as they were submitted to us, not individual points or profiles. If you want to search and retrieve ocean profiles in a common format, or objectively analyzed fields, your better option may be to use one of our project applications. See: Access Data

Title: | Conductivity, Temperature and Depth (CTD) and other data from MELVILLE, METEOR and TYRO from 1989-01-23 to 1991-09-26 (NCEI Accession 9500051) |
Abstract: | The seven data sets of Conductivity, Temperature and Depth (CTD) were collected as part of World Ocean Circulation Experiment. Data was collected from Ships METEOR, MELVILLE, and TYRO. The data was collected over a period spanning from January 23, 1989 to September 26, 1991. Data was submitted by Dr. Jonathan H. Sharp of Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie, Hamburg, Germany. |

Supplementary information: | The publication listed below is related to the data collection and is available from the NOAA Central Library: Carbon dioxide, hydrographic, and chemical data obtained during the R/V Meteor cruise 11/5 in the South Atlantic and northern Weddell Sea areas (WOCE sections A-12 and A-21). Oak Ridge, Tenn. : Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, 1994. Note: Metadata for this accession were extracted from a legacy database maintained by the U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC). The design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Principal Investigator (PI) and organization contact information accurately represents all available information from the legacy database at the time that this description was created. However, proper attribution of a PI to a specific institution or the role (submitting or collecting) taken by an institution may not be correct due to inexact mapping between fields in the legacy database and the CSDGM. Due to this uncertainty, the contact information was initially recorded in the Supplemental Information element of the CSDGM description. To develop more accurate metadata, NCEI reviews metadata for all accessions on an ongoing basis.
