The Ocean Archive System searches our original datasets as they were submitted to us, not individual points or profiles. If you want to search and retrieve ocean profiles in a common format, or objectively analyzed fields, your better option may be to use one of our project applications. See: Access Data

Title: | Wave direction and other data from Motion Package Buoy station 24 in the North Atlantic from 1980-09-25 to 1980-12-01 (NCEI Accession 8200175) |
Abstract: | Data has been processed by NODC to the NODC standard Wave/Current Observations (F181) format. The F181 format is designed to support studies made by automated ocean sensoring devices. The format consists of ten record types. Record types A and B describe the basic environmental information to understand the data. Record types C, D, E, F, G, H, I, and J are used to report current meter, water level, pressure gauge, wave height, and wave direction, spectra, fourier coefficients, and current meter respectively. |

Supplementary information: | Note: Metadata for this accession were extracted from a legacy database maintained by the U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC). The design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Principal Investigator (PI) and organization contact information accurately represents all available information from the legacy database at the time that this description was created. However, proper attribution of a PI to a specific institution or the role (submitting or collecting) taken by an institution may not be correct due to inexact mapping between fields in the legacy database and the CSDGM. Due to this uncertainty, the contact information was initially recorded in the Supplemental Information element of the CSDGM description. To develop more accurate metadata, NCEI reviews metadata for all accessions on an ongoing basis. Points of contact for this data set include: Contact info: Agency: US DOC; NOAA; NESDIS; NATIONAL OCEANOGRAPHIC DATA CENTER PI: N/A Address: address: NOT AVAILABLE city: NOT AVAILABLE state: NOT AVAILABLE postal: NOT AVAILABLE |
