Title: Primary productivity, nutrients, and other data from bottle casts from NOAA Ship MILLER FREEMAN as part of the Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment Program (OCSEAP) from 1975-11-12 to 1975-11-26 (NCEI Accession 7601622)
Abstract: Primary productivity, nutrients, and other data were collected from bottle casts from NOAA Ship MILLER FREEMAN from 12 November 1975 to 26 November 1975. Data were collected by the University of Alaska - Fairbanks; Institute of Marine Science (UAK/IMS) as part of Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment Program (OCSEAP). Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard F029 Primary Productivity format. An analog file for this accession is available.

The F029 format contains data from measurements of primary productivity. The data are collected to provide information on nutrient levels and nutrient flow in offshore areas. In addition to cruise information, position, date, time, sampling depths, bottom depth, and environmental information, this file may contain measured parameters including: concentrations of nutrients such as phosphate, nitrate, silicate, and ammonia; temperature and salinity; and carbon assimilation. Measurements of chlorophyll a, phaeopigment, and carbon assimilation may be reported as integrated values. A free-text record is available for comments.

Supplementary information: Note: Metadata for this accession were extracted from a legacy database maintained by the U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC). The design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM).

Principal Investigator (PI) and organization contact information accurately represents all available information from the legacy database at the time that this description was created. However, proper attribution of a PI to a specific institution or the role (submitting or collecting) taken by an institution may not be correct due to inexact mapping between fields in the legacy database and the CSDGM. Due to this uncertainty, the contact information was initially recorded in the Supplemental Information element of the CSDGM description.

To develop more accurate metadata, NCEI reviews metadata for all accessions on an ongoing basis.
