| Abstract: | This dataset includes primary productivity data from the NMFS/MESA Primary Productivity Study in the Raritan-Lower Hudson Estuary, New York/New Jersey from the R/V Rorqual from 11/12/73 to 6/4/75. Data were collected and submitted by NOAA/NMFS/Sandy Hook Marine Laboratory, Highlands, New Jersey. Data has been processed by NODC to the NODC standard Primary Productivity 2 (F049) format. The F049 format contains data from measurements of photosynthetic capacity and phytoplankton productivity. In addition to cruise information, position, date, time, sampling depths, bottom depth, and general environmental information, this file may contain measured parameters including: concentrations of chlorophylls a, b, c, plant carotenoids, and phaeo-pigments; concentrations of oxygen, particulate organic carbon, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, silicate, and urea; temperature, salinity, and total alkalinity; and light penetration and light intensity. Values of photosynthetic capacity and primary productivity may be reported as total values or partial values for phytoplankton, net plankton, nano-plankton, and dissolved organic matter. |
