The Ocean Archive System searches our original datasets as they were submitted to us, not individual points or profiles. If you want to search and retrieve ocean profiles in a common format, or objectively analyzed fields, your better option may be to use one of our project applications. See: Access Data

Title: Low resolution real-time physical trajectory profile data from glider sylvia deployed by Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) in the Mid-Atlantic Bight from 2023-09-11 to 2023-11-26 (NCEI Accession 0291853)
Abstract: Glider sylvia is deployed on the Virginia shelf and will be flying a triangle covering the shelf waters between Norfolk Canyon and Washington Canyon. This MARACOOS project supports the deployment and realtime data delivery of autonomous underwater gliders in the coastal ocean to better resolve and understand essential ocean features and processes that contribute to hurricane intensification or weakening prior to making landfall. Project partners in 2022 and 2023 include Virginia Institute of Marine Science - William & Mary, University of Delaware, and Rutgers University. This project is supported by NOAA Disaster Supplemental funding.

The National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) received the data in this dataset from the Integrated Ocean Observing System's National Glider Data Assembly Center (IOOS NGDAC). The IOOS NGDAC received the data in one or more netCDF files comprising an entire glider deployment. The data are measurements of physical oceanographic properties such as temperature, salinity, conductivity, and density. The IOOS NGDAC checked the files for compliance to their netCDF file convention, aggregated the files into a single netCDF file, and then submitted the file to NCEI for long-term preservation. Data files may be either low resolution real-time or full resolution. Full resolution files are designated as "delayed" in the netCDF file name.
