Title: Nitrate dual isotope (d15N and d18O) measurements from R/V Knorr cruise KN192-05 in the South Atlantic subtropical gyre and Benguela upwelling region in 2007 (CoFeMUG project) (NCEI Accession 0278853)
Abstract: This dataset contains chemical and physical data collected on R/V Knorr during cruise KN192-05 in the South Atlantic Ocean from 2007-11-16 to 2007-12-13. These data include d18O_NO3, dN15_NO3, and water pressure. The instruments used to collect these data include Isotope-ratio Mass Spectrometer and Trace Metal Bottle. These data were collected by Karen L. Casciotti of Stanford University and Caitlin Frame of University of Basel (Universitat Basel) as part of the "Cobalt, Iron and Micro-organisms from the Upwelling zone to the Gyre (CoFeMUG)" project and "Ocean Carbon and Biogeochemistry (OCB)" and "U.S. GEOTRACES (U.S. GEOTRACES)" programs. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NCEI on 2020-03-31.

The following is the text of the dataset description provided by BCO-DMO:

Nitrate dual isotope (d15N and d18O) measurements.

Dataset Description:
Nitrate dual isotope (d15N and d18O) measurements made from samples from acid-cleaned, Teflon-coated X-Niskin sampling bottles on the CoFeMUG cruise (KN192-05).

Supplementary information: Acquisition Description:
Single water samples for nitrate isotopic analyses were collected from acid-cleaned, Teflon-coated X-Niskin sampling bottles (OceanTest Equipment) of 8-liter capacity deployed on an epoxy-coated rosette (Sea-Bird Electronics) rosette as described in Noble et al. (2012). Samples were collected into triple-rinsed 60 mL HDPE bottles and stored frozen at -20 degrees C until analysis. Isotopic analyses of NO3 were made with a Finnigan DELTA PLUS XP IRMS using the denitrifier method (Sigman et al., 2001; Casciotti et al., 2002; McIlvin and Casciotti, 2011). Both d15N-NO3 and d18O-NO3 analyses were made in duplicate and data are reported as means +/- 1 standard deviation.
