| Abstract: | This dataset contains chemical and physical data collected on R/V JOIDES Resolution during cruise IODP-385 in the Gulf of California from 2019-10-04 to 2019-11-10. These data include Nitrogen, depth, dissolved inorganic Carbon, dissolved organic Carbon, nitrate plus nitrite, and water temperature. The instruments used to collect these data include Nutrient Autoanalyzer and Total Nitrogen Analyzer. These data were collected by Virginia P. Edgcomb of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution as part of the "Collaborative Research: IODP-enabled Insights into Fungi and Their Metabolic Interactions with Other Microorganisms in Deep Subsurface Hydrothermal Sediments (IODP insights Fungi)" project. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NCEI on 2022-08-12. The following is the text of the dataset description provided by BCO-DMO: Sediment porewater nutrients Dataset Description: Acquisition Description: Sediments samples dedicated to nutrient analyses recovered from 8 drilling sites from up to 427 meter below seafloor. Two ~40ml samples of sediment were placed in 50 ml Falcon tubes and were centrifuged at 3000 rpm for 15 minutes to separate porewater from the sediment. The porewater was collected into vials for dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), dissolved organic carbon (DOC), NOx, and total nitrogen (TN). Samples were stored at 4oC. |
