The Ocean Archive System searches our original datasets as they were submitted to us, not individual points or profiles. If you want to search and retrieve ocean profiles in a common format, or objectively analyzed fields, your better option may be to use one of our project applications. See: Access Data

Title: Ocean currents measured by Shipboard Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (SADCP) 2005-07 to 2020-10 from global oceans accumulated at the Joint Archive (JASADCP) 2020-06 to 2020-12 (NCEI Accession 0223175)
Abstract: Absolute U- and V-component ocean current vectors from Shipboard Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (SADCP), as both a high frequency sampling (nominally 5 minutes with 8 m depth bins) and an averaged subset (hourly time and 10 m depth means), are provided for the global oceans. The depth range was typically from 20 to 300 m during the 1980s to ~1990s, after which technology improvements have allowed penetration to over 1 km. Starting in the 2000s, many cruises began utilizing multiple sonars, some of which with multiple modes, to allow independent sets of varying depth-versus-resolution characteristics. Thus, some cruises have more than one sonar-cruise set. The high frequency samples along with ancillary parameters are provided in the Common Oceanographic Data Access System (CODAS) binary format, from which long- and short-form NetCDF files are made. The long form holds an exact dump of the CODAS set. The short form gives currents in Earth coordinates and select ancillary parameters. The standard (averaged hourly/10m depth bins) subset is stored in ASCII and NetCDF. This NCEI Accession represents the cruises taken over the time span of 2005-07-11 to 2020-10-27 and accumulated 2020-06 to 2020-12 at the Joint Archive for SADCP, a collaboration of NOAA and the University of Hawaii Currents Group. The data have been contributed by both US and international organizations.
