Title: Oceanographic data collected during EX1709 (Eastern Pacific Mapping (Telepresence Mapping)) expedition on NOAA Ship OKEANOS EXPLORER in the North Pacific Ocean from 2017-10-16 to 2017-11-11 (NCEI Accession 0169378)
Abstract: This dataset contains oceanographic data collected along the Clarion-Clipperton Fracture Zone and the transit track between Honolulu, Hawaii and Balboa, Panama. Operations for this cruise included the use of the ship's deep water mapping system and high-bandwidth satellite connection for hourly data transfer, real-time ship to shore communications, real-time sonar control from shore, and real-time video streaming of sonar screens and ship's cameras. Data acquisition from shipboard sensors includes navigation data, meteorological data (wind, air temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure), and oceanographic data (thermosalinograph, sound velocity probe, bathythermograph). Operations also included the use of the ship's Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP).
