Title: Oceanographic data collected during the EX1607 (CAPSTONE Wake Island PRIMNM (Mapping)) expedition on NOAA Ship OKEANOS EXPLORER in the North Pacific Ocean from 2016-08-25 to 2016-09-11 (NCEI Accession 0156614)
Abstract: This dataset contains oceanographic data collected in and around the Wake Island Unit of the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument (PRIMNM). Operations focused on collecting seafloor mapping data over several seamounts within the Wake Island Unit of PRIMNM, and conducting targeted mapping exploration transits between the start and end ports and the working grounds. This expedition helped establish a baseline of information in the region to catalyze further exploration, research, and management activities. Operations began in Kwajalein, Marshall Islands and concluded in Honolulu, Hawaii, and included 24 hour/day mapping using the ship’s deep water mapping systems and high-bandwidth satellite connection for real-time ship to shore communications.
