Title: HPLC pigment data from samples collected during R/V Savannah cruises conducted in the South Atlantic Bight off the coast of Georgia from 2015-2017 (NCEI Accession 0278713)
Abstract: This dataset contains biological data collected on R/V Savannah during cruises SAV-15-04, SAV-15-16, SAV-15-20, SAV-15-26, SAV-16-06, SAV-16-22, SAV-16-28, and SAV-17-02 in the North Atlantic Ocean from 2015-03-16 to 2017-01-27. These data include 19-prime-butanoyloxyfucoxanthin, 19-prime-hexanoyloxyfucoxanthin, carotene-alpha, carotene-beta, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, chlorophyll c1, chlorophyll c2, chlorophyll c3, depth, diadinoxanthin, diatoxanthin, divinyl chlorophyll a, fucoxanthin, neoxanthin, prasinoxanthin, violaxanthin, and zeaxanthin. The instruments used to collect these data include CTD Sea-Bird 25, CTD Sea-Bird 911, High Performance Liquid Chromatograph, and Niskin bottle. These data were collected by Peter Lee of College of Charleston - Hollings Marine Lab as part of the "RUI: Vitamin B12 and nitrogen regulation of oceanic dimethylsulfoniopropionate and dimethylsulfide (B12 Impacts on DMSP)" project. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NCEI on 2020-06-23.

The following is the text of the dataset description provided by BCO-DMO:

Supplementary information: Acquisition Description:
Algal HPLC samples were collected by filtration under low vacuum through GF/F filters and frozen at -80C for on-shore analysis. Samples were extracted in acetone and analyzed using an Agilent 1100 HPLC system equipped with autosampler, photodiode array, and fluorescence detectors. The gradient elution program utilized was a slight modification of the Zapata et al. method (2000). Complete details of the HPLC method are described in DiTullio and Geesey 2003.
