Comments: NRDA is the legal process that federal agencies such as NOAA, together with states and Indian tribes, use to collect, compile and analyze information, statistics or data to evaluate the impacts and injuries from hazardous substance releases. This can include oil spills, hazardous waste sites, and ship groundings on public natural resources along the nation's coasts and throughout its interior. The process goal is to identify the extent of natural resource injuries, the the type and amount of restoration required, and the appropriate methods for compensating for those injuries. In addition to studying impacts to the environment, the NRDA process includes assessing and restoring the public's lost use of injured natural resources (such as recreational fishing or swimming).

The NRDA Process represents a well established natural resources injury assessment to identify the extent of natural resource restoration required. The NRDA process produces a variety of data types that will be archived in multiple places. A project keyword is an important step toward coordinating the discoverability of the data produced and archived by the NRDA Process.
