Comments: The SO extends over a vast area far away from the other continents and most of the research facilities. Extreme weather conditions and significant sea-ice coverage prevail there most of the year. At present, the SO remains very under-explored, and the scarcity of oceanographic data limits our ability to understand key climatic-relevant processes and document ongoing changes. Key variables: O2, NO3, Chla, Suspended particles, Downwelling irradiance.

Started in: Nov. 2014
Area of interest: Southern Ocean
Additional Funding Organizations:
UPMC (University Pierre and Marie Curie, France)
BNP Paribas Foundation
