Comments: ESI data typically are presented as GIS products originally released on CD-ROM or DVD. The majority of U.S. coastal states or regions have been represented in the series. A typical ESI atlas product contains GIS files of shorelines and theme layers of areas of potential sensitivity in the event of an oil or chemical spill.
Atlases also contained very detailed metadata and associated .pdf maps for non-GIS users. ESI maps should not be used for navigational purposes.
