The Ocean Archive System searches our original datasets as they were submitted to us, not individual points or profiles. If you want to search and retrieve ocean profiles in a common format, or objectively analyzed fields, your better option may be to use one of our project applications. See: Access Data

Title: Temperature profiles from XBT casts from MULTIPLE PLATFORMS in support of the World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE) from 1993-08-05 to 1995-12-26 (NCEI Accession 9700278)
Abstract: This dataset contains XBT data from California Star (C6JF2), Joana Bonita (3EFY6), Fua Kavenga (A3CA), SeaLand Enterprise (KRGB), Tonsina (KJDG), and Joana Bonita (3EFY6) from 05 August 1993 to 26 December 1995. Data were collected by Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) in support of the World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE). This data was collected using Sippican Deep Blue XBT's using the old fall rate coefficients (a=6.472, b=-2.16) and a Sippican MK12 controller board. Data files are text.

Supplementary information: Note: Metadata for this accession were extracted from a legacy database
maintained by the U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC). The
design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content
Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM).

Principal Investigator (PI) and organization contact information
accurately represents all available information from the legacy database
at the time that this description was created. However, proper
attribution of a PI to a specific institution or the role (submitting or
collecting) taken by an institution may not be correct due to inexact
mapping between fields in the legacy database and the CSDGM. Due to this
uncertainty, the contact information was initially recorded in the
Supplemental Information element of the CSDGM description.

To develop more accurate metadata, the NODC reviews metadata for all
accessions on an ongoing basis.
