Title: | Zooplankton abundance, biovolume, and biomass from THOMAS G. THOMPSON from TOGA Area - Pacific (30 N to 30 S) as part of US JGOFS EqPac project from 1992-02-05 to 1992-10-20 (NCEI Accession 9700062) |
Abstract: | Abundance, biovolume, and biomass of Cyanobacteria, phototrophic, heterotrophic eukaryotic pico- and nanoplanktons were collected from THOMAS G. THOMPSON cruises TT007, TTN008, TTN011 and TTN012 from February 5, 1992 to October 20, 1992. Biomass is calculated using a constant carbon density factor of 220 femtograms C per um^3 of biovolume, and is expressed in units of micrograms of carbon per liter, while biovolume is defined as average cell size. Data were submitted by Dr. Michael E. Sieracki of Virginia Institute of Marine Science - Gloucester Point with support from the University of Maryland; Horn Point Environmental Laboratory. These data were collected using CTD casts in the Pacific Ocean. |

Supplementary information: | The publication listed below is related to the data collection and is available from the NOAA Central Library: U.S. JGOFS Equatorial Pacific Process Study : sampling and analytical protocols. Woods Hole, Mass. : U.S. JGOFS Planning and Coordination Office, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, 1993. Note: Metadata for this accession were extracted from a legacy database maintained by the U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC). The design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Principal Investigator (PI) and organization contact information accurately represents all available information from the legacy database at the time that this description was created. However, proper attribution of a PI to a specific institution or the role (submitting or collecting) taken by an institution may not be correct due to inexact mapping between fields in the legacy database and the CSDGM. Due to this uncertainty, the contact information was initially recorded in the Supplemental Information element of the CSDGM description. To develop more accurate metadata, NCEI reviews metadata for all accessions on an ongoing basis.
