The Ocean Archive System searches our original datasets as they were submitted to us, not individual points or profiles. If you want to search and retrieve ocean profiles in a common format, or objectively analyzed fields, your better option may be to use one of our project applications. See: Access Data

Title: ABSORPTION, SCATTERING, ATTENUATION COEFFICIENTS and Other Data from SATELLITE and Other Platforms From World-Wide Distribution from 19850101 to 19891231 (Accession No. - 9000068)
Abstract: Global Crossover Difference Data derived from sea level observations
collected during the first phase of operations of the U.S. Navy Geodetic
Satellite (GEOSAT).

The set of two tapes (NODC working tape #s D03236, and D03237,
NODC reference number L00950) contain Crossover Difference records (xdr s)
from the Northeast Atlantic region. Additional Geosat data from
other ocean regions is filed under NODC accession # 9000068,
NODC reference #s L00950-L00959.

Data for each region are held on two magnetic tapes per region, with
each set of two tapes filed under a single reference number. More Geosat
Crossover Data archived at NODC is filed under:
Accession # Reference # Region(s)
9000190 L00960-L00961 N Atlantic, Indian Ocean
9000199 L01017 Indian Ocean
9000213 L01018 Indian Ocean, SE Pacific
9100031 L01183 Georgia, Antarctica
9100053 L01184 Fuego Antarctica
The set of two tapes (NODC working tape #s D03238, and D03239,
NODC reference number L00951) contain Crossover Difference records
(xdr s) from the Southwest Pacific region.
The set of two tapes (NODC working tape #s D03240, and D03241, NODC
reference number L00952) contain Crossover Difference records (xdr s)
from the Southest Pacific region.
The set of two tapes (NODC working tape #s D03242, and D03243,
NODC reference number L00953) contain Crossover Difference records
(xdr s) from the Indian Ocean region.
The set of two tapes (NODC working tape #s D03244, and D03245,
NODC reference number L00954) contain Crossover Difference records
(xdr s) from the Indian Ocean and South Atlantic regions.
The set of two tapes (NODC working tape #s D03246, and D03247,
NODC reference number L00955) contain Crossover Difference records
(xdr s) from The North Pacific.
The set of two tapes (NODC working tape #s D03248, and D03249,
NODC reference number L00956) contain Crossover Difference records
(xdr s) from The Indian Ocean.
The set of two tapes (NODC working tape #s D03250, and D03251,
NODC reference number L00957) contain Crossover Difference records
(xdr s) from the North Atlantic.
The set of two tapes (NODC working tape #s D03252, and D03253,

(xdr s) from the Northeast Pacific.
The set of two tapes (NODC working tape #s D03254, and D03255,
NODC reference number L00959) contain Crossover Difference records
(xdr s) from the North Pacific.

All tapes are a part of a set of Geosat tapes submitted by
Ms. Nancy Doyle of NOAA/NOS, Rockville, MD.

Supplementary information: Note: Metadata for this accession were extracted from a legacy database
maintained by the U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC). The
design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content
Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM).

Principal Investigator (PI) and organization contact information
accurately represents all available information from the legacy database
at the time that this description was created. However, proper
attribution of a PI to a specific institution or the role (submitting or
collecting) taken by an institution may not be correct due to inexact
mapping between fields in the legacy database and the CSDGM. Due to this
uncertainty, the contact information was initially recorded in the
Supplemental Information element of the CSDGM description.

To develop more accurate metadata, the NODC reviews metadata for all
accessions on an ongoing basis.
