The Ocean Archive System searches our original datasets as they were submitted to us, not individual points or profiles. If you want to search and retrieve ocean profiles in a common format, or objectively analyzed fields, your better option may be to use one of our project applications. See: Access Data

Title: Wave spectra, meteorological, and other data from FIXED PLATFORMS from the North Atlantic Ocean and other locations in support of the Tropical Ocean Global Atmosphere (TOGA) project from 01 May 1985 to 28 May 1985 (NODC Accession 8500301)
Abstract: Wave spectra, meteorological, and other data were collected from FIXED PLATFORMS. Data were collected by the National Data Buoy Center (NBDC) in support of the Tropical Ocean Global Atmosphere (TOGA) project from 01 May 1985 to 28 May 1985. Data were processed by NODC to the standard NODC F191-Meteorology and Wave Spectra format. Full format descriptions are available from NODC homepage at http://www.noaa.nodc.gov/. Links to digital data are not available at this time. An analog file is available from NODC user services.

The F191 format is used to report meteorological data and ocean wave spectra data from NDBO. The format contains seven data record types to: 1) identify the buoy for position, duration, rate of sampling and heading, 2) identify the meteorological parameters, (temperature, pressure, weather, solar radiation, and surface waves), and 3) report time times series frequency, density and resolution of waves. Each record is 120 characters in length, sorted by station and record type.

Supplementary information: Note: Metadata for this accession were extracted from a legacy database
maintained by the U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC). The
design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content
Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM).

Principal Investigator (PI) and organization contact information
accurately represents all available information from the legacy database
at the time that this description was created. However, proper
attribution of a PI to a specific institution or the role (submitting or
collecting) taken by an institution may not be correct due to inexact
mapping between fields in the legacy database and the CSDGM. Due to this
uncertainty, the contact information was initially recorded in the
Supplemental Information element of the CSDGM description.

To develop more accurate metadata, the NODC reviews metadata for all
accessions on an ongoing basis.
