The Ocean Archive System searches our original datasets as they were submitted to us, not individual points or profiles. If you want to search and retrieve ocean profiles in a common format, or objectively analyzed fields, your better option may be to use one of our project applications. See: Access Data

Title: | BIOMAPER-II environmental data from R/V Endeavor and R/V Oceanus cruises EN307, EN330, EN331, OC332 and OC334 to Georges Bank and the Gulf of Maine in 1997-1999 (GB project) (NCEI Accession 0278556) |
Abstract: | This dataset contains chemical, optical, and physical data collected on R/V Endeavor and R/V Oceanus during cruises EN307, EN330, EN331, OC332, and OC334 in the North Atlantic Ocean and South Atlantic Ocean from 1997-10-09 to 1999-12-12. These data include dissolved Oxygen, light transmission (volts), potential temperature, salinity calculated from CTD primary sensors, sigma-theta, water pressure, and water temperature. The instruments used to collect these data include BIo-Optical Multi-frequency Acoustical and Physical Environmental Recorder II. These data were collected by Dr Peter H. Wiebe of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution as part of the "U.S. GLOBEC Georges Bank (GB)" project and "U.S. GLOBal ocean ECosystems dynamics (U.S. GLOBEC)" program. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NCEI on 2019-02-22. The following is the text of the dataset description provided by BCO-DMO: Biomaper-II environmental data from Georges Bank, 1997-1999 Dataset Description: Georges Bank BIOMAPERII Environmental (CTD+) Data These data are from the Enviromental Sensing System (ESS) part of the BIO-Optical Multi-frequency Acoustical and Physical Environmental Recorder or BIOMAPER II.* (1) "The system consists of a multi-frequency sonar (up-looking and down-looking pairs of transducers operating at five frequencies: 43,120,200,420, and 1000kHz), a video plankton recorder system (VPR), an environmental sensor system (CTD, fluorometer, transmissometer), and several other bio-optical sensors (down- and upwelling spectral radiometers, spectral attenuation, and backscattering, and absorption meters)." *(2) References *(1) Wiebe, P.H., et al., 2002, BIOMAPER-II: An Integrated Instrument Platform for Coupled Biological and Physical Measurements in Coastal and Oceanic Regimes.
