Title: Benthic Ecosystem and Acidification Measuring System (BEAMS) data from two sites on the western terrace of the Palmyra Atoll collected during 2014 (BEAMS project) (NCEI Accession 0277880)
Abstract: This dataset contains chemical and physical data collected at shoreside Palmyra during deployment BEAMS_Palmyra from 2014-09-07 to 2014-09-23. These data include Aragonite Saturation State, PAR, dissolved Oxygen, pH, salinity calculated from CTD primary sensors, and water pressure. The instruments used to collect these data include Dissolved Oxygen Sensor, Flow Meter, Light Meter, and pH Sensor. These data were collected by Dr Nichole N. Price of Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, Dr Yuichiro Takeshita of Carnegie Institution for Science, Dr Wade McGillis of Columbia University, and Dr Jennifer Smith and Dr Todd R. Martz of University of California-San Diego as part of the "Quantifying the potential for biogeochemical feedbacks to create 'refugia' from ocean acidification on tropical coral reefs (BEAMS)" project. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NCEI on 2019-04-17.

The following is the text of the dataset description provided by BCO-DMO:

Supplementary information: Acquisition Description:
This dataset was collected using the Benthic Ecosystem and Acidification Measuring System (BEAMS). The details of this technique and dataset can be in the reference provided below. BEAMS uses autonomous sensors to quantify mean gradients of pH and O2 and the current velocity profile in the BBL to calculate benthic fluxes of O2 (NCP) and TA (NCC). The NCP and NCC provided here represent metabolic rates under completely natural (e.g. flow and light) conditions.
