The Ocean Archive System searches our original datasets as they were submitted to us, not individual points or profiles. If you want to search and retrieve ocean profiles in a common format, or objectively analyzed fields, your better option may be to use one of our project applications. See: Access Data

Title: Physical trajectory profile data from glider sylvia deployed by Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) in the Mid-Atlantic Bight from 2018-05-01 to 2018-05-14 (NCEI Accession 0239597)
Abstract: This MARACOOS glider mission will survey the continental shelf, shelfbreak, and submarine canyon regions in the southern Mid-Atlantic Bight. The goal of the mission is to conduct spring-time hydrographic survey, quantify the water masses and the configuration of the shelfbreak front, and test the LISST sensor in a submarine canyon setting. The glider is scheduled to be deployed on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 and recovered on Monday May 14, 2018. The glider will be deployed near the 35 m isobath at mid-shelf off Wachepreague VA fly offshore toward Washington Canyon. It will conduct a few repeated transect at the canyon head region and fly back inshore toward Wachepreague VA for recovery.

The National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) received the data in this archival package from the Integrated Ocean Observing System's National Glider Data Assembly Center (IOOS NGDAC). The IOOS NGDAC received the data in one or more netCDF files comprising an entire glider deployment. The data are measurements of physical oceanographic properties such as temperature, salinity, conductivity, and density. The IOOS NGDAC checked the files for compliance to their netCDF file convention, aggregated the files into a single netCDF file, and then submitted the file to NCEI for long-term preservation.
