| Abstract: | This dataset includes chemical, navigational and physical data collected aboard the R/V Falkor during cruise FK160320 in the South Pacific Ocean from 2016-03-20 to 2016-04-01. These data include CONDUCTIVITY, DEPTH - BOTTOM, DEPTH - OBSERVATION, DISSOLVED OXYGEN, HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE, LATITUDE, LONGITUDE, SALINITY, WATER TEMPERATURE, course over ground and speed over ground. The instruments used to collect these data include CTD, GPS, echo sounder and oxygen meter. These data were collected by Tom Kwasnitschka of GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel, and by Schmidt Ocean Institute as part of Virtual Vents: The Changing Face of Hydrothermalism Revealed. The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) submitted these data to NCEI as part of the Rolling Deck to Repository (R2R) program. A suite of navigation products produced by the Rolling Deck to Repository program is included in this accession, which include one high resolution, one 1 minute resolution, and one low resolution coordinate file. R2R provides a processed version of the CTD data. |
