Title: Pigment concentrations determined by HPLC from samples collected on Leg 1 (Seattle, WA to Hilo, HI) of the US GEOTRACES Pacific Meridional Transect (PMT) cruise (GP15, RR1814) on R/V Roger Revelle from September to October 2018 (NCEI Accession 0291478)
Abstract: This dataset contains biological data collected on R/V Roger Revelle during cruise RR1814 from 2018-09-24 to 2018-10-19. These data include 19-prime-butanoyloxyfucoxanthin, 19-prime-hexanoyloxyfucoxanthin, carotene-alpha, carotene-beta, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, chlorophyll c3, depth, diadinoxanthin, diatoxanthin, fucoxanthin, neoxanthin, prasinoxanthin, violaxanthin, and zeaxanthin. The instruments used to collect these data include High-Performance Liquid Chromatograph. These data were collected by Gregory A. Cutter of Old Dominion University, Karen L. Casciotti of Stanford University, and Phoebe J. Lam of University of California-Santa Cruz as part of the "US GEOTRACES Pacific Meridional Transect (GP15) (U.S. GEOTRACES PMT)" project and "U.S. GEOTRACES (U.S. GEOTRACES)" program. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NCEI on 2023-11-17.

The following is the text of the dataset description provided by BCO-DMO:

GP15 HPLC pigments Leg 1

Dataset Description:
Methods and Sampling:
Pigments were sampled from the shallowest 6 depths (
OSU HPLC facility methods: Our method for pigment analysis is based on the protocol described by Mantoura and Lewellyn (1983) and modified according to Bidigare et al. (1989). Briefly, samples are extracted for up to 48 hours in 100% acetone at -20°C, then analyzed on a Waters 2690 separations module equipped with a C18 column and full spectrum photodiode array detector. Pigment standards for calibration and response factor calculations are obtained from DHI Group in Denmark.
