| Abstract: | This dataset contains biological and survey - biological data collected at Long Marine Lab UCSC during deployment Carr_1999 in the North Pacific Ocean from 2013-07-19 to 2016-09-14. These data include species. The instruments used to collect these data include BINCKE net and larval fish collector. These data were collected by Dr John Carlos Garza and Mark Carr of University of California-Santa Cruz and Christopher Edwards [AFFILIATION UNKNOWN] as part of the "Integrative evaluation of larval dispersal and delivery in kelp rockfish using inter-generational genetic tagging, demography and oceanography (Larval Dispersal in Kelp Rockfish)" project and "Partnership for Interdisciplinary Studies of Coastal Oceans (PISCO)" program. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NCEI on 2021-01-27. The following is the text of the dataset description provided by BCO-DMO: juvenile fish lengths Dataset Description: Acquisition Description: Tissue samples are collected from juvenile fish for genetic samples. Samples from juvenile fishes are collected from larval collectors (SMURFs) and by divers using collecting nets (BINCKE) at the kelp canopy surface. Juvenile fish are taken aboard a vessel, fin-clipped (a small portion of the second dorsal or caudal fin) to obtain tissue for genetic analysis, measured, and returned to nearby kelp canopy habitat. Dataset includes the date and location of sampling, species, individual length (total length to the nearest mm), and disposition of the sampled individual (sacrificed or released). |
