Title: CFC-12, CFC-11, and SF6 concentrations from the US GEOTRACES Pacific Meridional Transect (PMT) cruise (GP15) from September to November 2018 (NCEI Accession 0278308)
Abstract: This dataset contains physical data collected on R/V Roger Revelle during cruises RR1814 and RR1815 in the Gulf of Alaska, North Pacific Ocean, and South Pacific Ocean from 2018-09-24 to 2018-11-23. These data include salinity calculated from CTD primary sensors, water pressure, and water temperature. The instruments used to collect these data include Automated Purge and Trap System, Gas Chromatograph, and Niskin bottle. These data were collected by Rana A. Fine of University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science as part of the "GEOTRACES Pacific Meridional Transect: Measurement of chlorofluorocarbons and sulfur hexafluoride (PMT CFC SF6)" and "US GEOTRACES Pacific Meridional Transect (U.S. GEOTRACES PMT)" projects and "U.S. GEOTRACES (U.S. GEOTRACES)" program. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NCEI on 2020-08-13.

The following is the text of the dataset description provided by BCO-DMO:

CFC-12, CFC-11, and SF6 concentrations for GP15 cruise

Dataset Description:
CFC-12, CFC-11, and SF6 concentrations from the US GEOTRACES Pacific Meridional Transect (PMT) cruises, RR1814 and RR1814 (GP15), on the R/V Roger Revelle from September to November 2018.

Supplementary information: Acquisition Description:
Samples were taken from Niskin bottles. They were unfiltered. Note there is no SF6 data for the first leg of the cruise (RR1814).

Procedures:
Fill 300 ml and flush BOD bottles with water in a one liter overflow bottle. Cap bottle underwater. Analysis is on a custom-built purge and trap gas chromatography with electron capture detection. Data were processed using Labview and Excel.
