Title: DOC, POC, d13C-POC, PN from a diffuse vent in West Mata sampled in May 2009 using ROV Jason II deployed from R/V Thomas Thompson (NCEI Accession 0278077)
Abstract: This dataset contains biological, chemical, and physical data collected on R/V Thomas G. Thompson during cruise TN234 in the North Pacific Ocean from 2009-05-07 to 2009-05-11. These data include Ammonium, Dissolved Organic Nitrogen, Iron, Nitrate, Nitrite, Silicon, Total Dissolved Nitrogen, biomass carbon, d13C, d15N, depth, dissolved organic Carbon, pH, particulate organic Carbon (POC), turbidity, and water temperature. The instruments used to collect these data include Costech International Elemental Combustion System (ECS) 4010 and Shimadzu TOC-V Analyzer. These data were collected by Julie Huber of Marine Biological Laboratory, David A. Butterfield, Edward T. Baker, and Joseph A. Resing of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Huei-Ting Lin of National Taiwan University, and James Cowen of University of Hawaii as part of the "Collaborative Research: Rapid Response to a Submarine Eruption at W. Mata Volcano (West Mata Volcano)" project. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NCEI on 2021-04-15.

The following is the text of the dataset description provided by BCO-DMO:

Acquisition Description:
Seawater samples were collected with Niskin bottles on a CTD rosette deployed from the research vessel Thomas Thompson. Hydrothermal fluid samples were collected via ROV JASON II using the PMEL Hydrothermal Fluid and Particulate Sampler into 800 mL Tedlar bags.

Particulates were collected by pumping 2-5 L of hydrothermal vent fluids through combusted GF/F filters (precombusted) using the HFPS in situ. About 10 L of seawater collected with CTD-rosette Niskin bottles were filtered on board ship through combusted GF/F filters.
