| Abstract: | This dataset contains physical data collected at McMurdo Station during deployment McMurdo_IceBreakers_1957-2015 in the South Pacific Ocean and Southern Ocean from 1956-01-01 to 2017-12-31. These data include measure of ice extent. These data were collected by Dr David G. Ainley of H.T. Harvey & Associates, Dr Stacy Kim of Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, Dr Grant Ballard of Point Blue Conservation Science, and Dr Kendra L. Daly of University of South Florida as part of the "Food web dynamics in an intact ecosystem: the role of top predators in McMurdo Sound (McMurdo Predator Prey)" project. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NCEI on 2023-01-23. The following is the text of the dataset description provided by BCO-DMO: Icebreaker dates and ice edge distance in McMurdo Sound, Antarctica Dataset Description: This dataset contains dates of icebreaker start and arrival at McMurdo Station in McMurdo Sound, Antarctica between austral years 1956/1957 and 2014/2015. It also includes the distance between the fast ice edge and McMurdo Station on the date of ship arrival at the fast ice edge. |
