| Abstract: |
The data in this file were collected from a survey of adult residents in Hawaiʻi. The survey respondents were selected from a random stratified sample of households in the islands of Hawaiʻi, Kaua'i, Maui, and O'ahu. These data are the second round of data collection assessing Hawaiʻi residents’ socioeconomic characteristics, human use patterns, and knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions of coral reefs and coral reef management. These data are also used to compare changes in Hawaiʻi residents’ socioeconomic characteristics since the first round of monitoring that occurred in 2015 in Hawaiʻi. Data were collected through online and telephone surveys, and the total sample size for this survey was 2,700 respondents. Survey weights were created to adjust for the sample design and non-response, and then calibrated using 2018 US Census data so that the weighted dataset is representative of Hawaii's resident population. |
