Title: SAMOS project underway oceanographic and quality-controlled meteorological data collected aboard NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson from 2018-08-01 to 2018-08-30 (NCEI Accession 0176145)
Abstract: The data logging system on NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson recorded underway oceanographic and meteorological data from various instruments while cruising in the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico and North Atlantic Ocean from 2018-08-01 to 2018-08-30. During this period, as part of the Shipboard Automated Meteorological and Oceanographic System (SAMOS) project, the data logging system sent the data daily via e-mail to Florida State University (FSU), where the Center for Ocean-Atmospheric Prediction Studies (COAPS) quality-controlled (QCed) the meteorological data. COAPS submitted four versions of the data to the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI): the original data e-mailed by the data logging system, first-level (automatically and merged) QCed data, and second-level (visually) QCed data. This dataset contains all these data.
