Data Set Description: This is a subset of the Deep-Sea Coral Research and Technology Program’s National Database. The data were acquired for the National Database from a research cruise aboard RV Walton Smith, June 2014. The survey was conducted in support of the Natural Resources Damage Assessment for Deep Water Horizon. The data were provided by Dr. Peter Etnoyer, Chief Scientist for the NOAA-led mission. The data are from geo-referenced images collected by ROV Global Explorer. The records represent observations of octocorals and black corals in the 60 - 90 meter depth range in the Northern Gulf of Mexico, including their number, size, and condition. Changes to the original dataset may have been made to conform to the National Database Schema and for quality control purposes. This is a collection of NOAA, Office of Response and Restoration records collected by ROV cruise conducted in June 2014 in the Gulf of Mexico. Further information can be found in the journal Coral Reefs by Etnoyer et al., 2016. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00338-015-1363-2
