Paleo Slide Set: Low Latitude Ice Cores: High Resolution Records of Climatic Change and Variability in the Tropics and Subtropics Map of Quelccaya Ice Cap Quelccaya and Huascaran are located in the midst of the Andes Mountains, a long cordillera of high peaks thrust upward by the subduction of the Nazca Plate beneath the South American Plate.
