Climatic variations as significant as Heinrich events probably affected climates and environments beyond the regions of the North Atlantic where Heinrich events appear in the sedimentological record. Variations in fossil pollen abundances in sediment cores retrieved from Lake Tulane in Florida, for instance, seem to correlate well with variations in lithic fragments from North Atlantic cores like DSDP 609.
