Data from: "Response to comment on 'Otolith d18O record of mid-Holocene sea surface temperatures in Peru'" C. Fred. T. Andrus, Douglas E. Crowe, Daniel H. Sandweiss, Elizabeth J. Reitz, Christopher S. Romanek, and Kirk A. Maasch 2003 Science, 299(5604): 203b. The data come from two cockles (Trachycardium procerum). The larger dataset was measured from a shell collected after the 1982-1983 El Nino near Casma, Peru. The collection this shell came from was described in Rollins et al. 1986 and 1987 The smaller dataset was derived from a shell excavated from the Ostra Site (8º 55' S) The shell is from a strata dated to 5830±90 14C yrs BP. This site was described in Sandweiss et al. 1996 Oxygen isotope data from Trachycardium procerum collected in 1984 near Casma, Peru: Distance from umbo (mm d18O 0.9 -1.5 1.6 -1.3 5.15 -1.1 14.4 -1.3 17.35 -1.4 20.2 -1.5 22.4 -1.5 23.5 -1.5 25.6 -1.5 27.8 -1.6 29.8 -1.6 31.7 -1.6 33.9 -1.6 35.8 -1.9 37.3 -2.1 39 -2 42.2 -2.1 44.5 -2 49.45 -1.7 51.2 -1.7 53.9 -1.4 55.8 -1.6 57.1 -2.3 58.4 -2.6 60.3 -2.7 61.25 -2.6 62.2 -2 63.3 -1.8 64.8 -1.7 66.8 -1.2 Precision = 0.07‰ (1s) Oxygen isotope data from Trachycardium procerum excavated from the Ostra Site (5830±90 14C yrs BP - 8º 55’ S): Distance from umbo (mm d18O 7.5 -0.1 15 -0.7 22.5 -0.6 30 0.4 37.5 0.4 45 -0.1 52.5 -0.7 60 -1.3 Precision = 0.07‰ (1s)
