Core MD900963 Calcium Carbonate & Stable Isotopes: readme file ----------------------------------------------------------------------- World Data Center A- Paleoclimatology ----------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: PLEASE CITE CONTRIBUTORS WHEN USING THIS DATA!!!!! CONTRIBUTORS: Franck Bassinot, Centre des Faibles Radioactivites IGBP PAGES/WDCA Data Contribution Series Number: 95-026 NAME OF DATA SET: Core MD900963 Calcium Carbonate & Stable Isotopes LAST UPDATE: 10/95 (Original Receipt by WDCA Paleo) GEOGRAPHIC REGION: Indian Ocean PERIOD OF RECORD: 0 - 1500 KYRBP LIST OF FILES: MD900963.txt, MD900963.readme. DESCRIPTION: The file is an ASCII formated file that contains: - depth (m) - first column contains the "corrected" depths. A slump has been eliminated in the calculation of these sub-bottom depths; - depth (m) - second column contains the "un-corrected" depths; - d18O (%o) - d13C (%o) - > 63 µm (%) - obtained by sieving sediments for extraction of foraminifers; - relative abundance of foraminifer fragments (%) (dissolution index) - carbonate content in the bulk sediment (%) The core MD900963 has been retrieved in the Indian Ocean, east of the Maldives platform (5°03.30N-73°52.60E) from a water depth of 2446 m during the MD65-SEYMAMA expedition of the R/V Marion Dufresne that took place in 1990 (Y. Lancelot, chief scientist). * Sedimentological analysis have been performed at the Laboratoire de Geologie du Quaternaire, CNRS Case 907, 13288 Marseille, France * Stable isotopes composition have been obtained on the planktonic species G. ruber picked in the 250-355 µm size fraction. Measurements have been done with a Finnigan MAT 251 at the Centre des Faibles Radioactivites, CNRS/CEA, Domaine du CNRS, 91198 Gif-sur-Yvette, France There is no age column in the MD900963 data file. An age model has been developed in the paper: Bassinot et al., EPSL, 126 (1994), 91-108. This age model might be slightly modified in the future and the "final" age model, when it is available, will be included with the data.
