The range of summer/fall SST over this interval is restricted to 1.5°C, while winter/spring SST varies by 4.5°C over the same time period suggesting that boreal winter variations control interannual SST variability in the tropical North Atlantic. Antiphasing between the two data sets, including a large divergence in the seasonal records circa 900 Common Era, can be explained by changes in Atlantic meridional overturning circulation and associated changes in surface/subsurface temperatures in the tropical North Atlantic as well as resultant changes in trade wind belt location and intensity. A statistically significant but nonlinear relation exists between reconstructed winter/spring temperatures and solar variability. #--------------------------------------- # Funding_Agency # Funding_Agency_Name: National Science Foundation # Grant: 0705627, 1003219, and 1053852 #--------------------------------------- # Funding_Agency # Funding_Agency_Name: National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration # Grant: NA09OAR4310110 #--------------------------------------- # Site Information # Site_Name: CAR25-1 # Location: North Atlantic Ocean # Northernmost_Latitude: 10.6675 # Southernmost_Latitude: 10.6675 # Easternmost_Longitude: -64.650167 # Westernmost_Longitude: -64.650167 # Elevation: -503 #--------------------------------------- # Data_Collection # Collection_Name: CAR25-1 Mg/Ca W13 # First_Year: 1984 # Last_Year: 2008 # Time_Unit: AD # Core_Length: 9.9 # Notes: #--------------------------------------- # Chronology: #--------------------------------------- # Variables ## depth_cm depth,,,cm,,,,,N ## age_AD Age,,,AD,,,,,N ## Mg/Ca-g.rub-p.IA Magnesium/Calcium,Globigerinoides ruber pink,,mmol/mol,,paleoceanography,ICP-AES,,N ## Mg/Ca-g.bull.IA Magnesium/Calcium,Globigerina bulloides,,mmol/mol,,paleoceanography,ICP-AES,,N #--------------------------------------- # Data # Missing Value: NaN depth_cm age_CE ruber_mg/ca bull_mg/ca 0 2008 4.8866 NaN 0.1 2007.301 NaN 4.9331 0.2 2006.6021 NaN 5.7121 0.3 2005.9031 5.1674 5.0427 0.4 2005.2041 5.4618 4.7791 0.5 2004.5052 5.309 5.0772 0.6 2003.8062 NaN 5.8132 0.7 2003.1073 5.6325 4.9148 0.8 2002.4083 5.199 6.0443 0.9 2001.7093 5.7057 5.9066 1 2001.0104 5.3184 5.315 1.1 2000.3114 4.8447 4.965 1.2 1999.6124 NaN 5.5736 1.3 1998.9135 5.0916 5.3644 1.4 1998.2145 NaN 4.8827 1.5 1997.5155 4.996 NaN 1.6 1996.8166 NaN 6.1054 1.7 1996.1176 5.2525 5.1285 1.8 1995.4187 5.3663 5.7162 1.9 1994.7197 5.2025 5.7619 2 1994.0207 NaN 5.4316 2.1 1993.3218 5.5844 4.9954 2.2 1992.6228 4.9923 4.973 2.3 1991.9238 5.09 5.199 2.4 1991.2249 5.0185 NaN 2.5 1990.5259 5.1806 5.1725 2.6 1989.8269 NaN NaN 2.7 1989.128 5.0571 NaN 2.8 1988.429 5.2466 NaN 2.9 1987.73 5.3156 NaN 3 1987.0311 5.3724 NaN 3.1 1986.3321 5.1638 5.2666 3.2 1985.6332 5.7137 NaN 3.3 1984.9342 5.0797 4.5965 3.4 1984.2352 5.4286 NaN
