Data provided by Howard Diamond on 29 March 2011. This followed a series of e-mails with Peter Fisher during October 2010. From Howard: You might recall that several months ago we were in communication with the folks in New Zealand about the data from Pitcairn Island from 1999 to the present for stations 91961, 91962, and 91964 with the following periods of record. 91961 - 1999-present 91962 - 1999-2008 91964 - 2005-present When I was in Hawaii last week, I happened to bring this up with one of the Kiwis there to see where we were on this, and as a result they have now sent me the 3 attached zipped files of CSV data. It would be really great if we could get these data into Climate Data Online; is that something you can assist me with? I assume that after this, that we can pick up the data from here via normal GTS channels. Peter Fisher said the following on 10/27/2010 9:07 PM: Hi Jay. Just to let you know we have extracted all available Pitcairn data and will send this data to you (only) soon but before I do, I have attached a sample. Can you work with this format? The format definition is "^IIiii^,^ObTimeZ!MT,^iw,^iRiXhVV^,^dd,^ff,^temp,^dewp,^appp,^ptend,^pres,^RH,^RRR" Hear from you, Peter Peter Fisher said the following on 10/12/2010 10:43 PM: Hello Jay. Thank you for your email. Before we extract all available Pitcairn data for you, I thought it best that I provide you a sample of the data to ensure it fits with your system. Note, typically we would provide the bulk historical data in .csv format. Does this work best for you? Also, I note you requested daily rainfall and max/min summaries however we can provide ALL synoptic data fields ? would this be your preference? If you require just the daily rainfall, max and min, this data is in the 1800Z synop. We could provide a data dump of just the 18Z synops, or we may be able to extract the daily rain, max and min values from the 18Z synops and deliver a .csv file containing just these items. This would take a little more time though. So, just let me know what works for you and we?ll see if we can fit in with it.
